Why we need effective leaders
The market globalization, the need to produce and provide services in a short time, the re-engineering of the companies, more and more oriented toward a strong internal dinamism, and the requests at the managers to decide quickly, to be accountable, to take risks and to drive much better than before their team: all these conditions ask for new managerial styles.
The continuous improvement approach suggests that the manager tells to himself: "My firm has rewarded my competences giving me the opportunity to cover this role, in the same time the present challenges push me to increase my skills to optimize my managerial performances".
Sometimes the companies answer at this need of change with an approach based on the idea that the best will survive and they will be able to do the right stuff in any situation. This approach is based on the idea that during the stressful periods there is not time to permit at the individuals to be involved in a process of improvement because they have to act quickly.
Following this last approach the relationship between the companies and their managers could become a vicious circle:
- the firms pushed by the market exigences ask the managers to be ready to change roles and responsibilities in a very short time but without a preparation to assume new positions
- the managers gratified by these rewards coming from the company accept to assume these new roles, also if they know that the absence of a true support could influence their acivities in a very negative way.
How to integrate the needs of the companies and the manager performance improvement? The system of coaching to cope the new challenges represent the best solution to:
- create a context supporting the managers in their new responsibilities
- coach the managers to use all the tools more suitables to master their activities
- integrate the company interests, that is to say to have efficient leaders able to cope with confidence and competence the changes, with the manager needs to be supported by the organization in their commitment to reach the goals
